Hi guys,

today I made a new cage for the RC-6, because i´m afraid that the coyote-sh**-brown plastic sheath will not get my best friend :D

So this is it:

2mm black kydex
only screwed together for easy cleaning (the 6 likes digging in the dirt...)
drain hole RC-4 sheath style
hole spacing for teklok use (the big one)
small thumb platform for easy release
first screw beside the handle for adjusting tension

hope you like it, I already do ;)

The other picture shows the RC-4 with RC-Kydex
the Izula with RC-plastic and one trouser-kydex and one Molle-kydex
the RC-6 with its plastic cage an the new kydex.

have a nice weekend using your rats!!!

Most Kydex sheaths look alike to me but that has a special look to it......I likie:thumbup:

just try it, it´s easy to do, you´ll have fun!

+1

Only power tool you really need is a drill

Dont even need a saw or dremel to shape the kydex - you can just heat the edges and use scissors or a knife to trim :D

I've started making my own and it really is fun and satisfying!

Right on. I have a Fiskars hatchet and a couple Imacasa machetes on the way that will need clothing. Perhaps I should start small though and go with one of my Moras.

I also would start with a smaller knive (the Izula is easy because of its form), because the handling is easier in the beginning. otherwise there is no difference between Izulas, machetes or swords...

Another good reason to start small is less material wasted. You'll likely need a few tries until you're happy with the results.

Nice work man. Great finish.
Having extra kydex is a plus since I keep some of my factory sheaths strapped to my packs. (Hoopster's done some great kydex pants for my izulas.) Hoping to get some new RC-4 pants soon. I'll have to give kydex-smithing a shot sometime.
