Has anyone gone to any of the training seminars offered by RAT? I am erally interested in attending one.

The wife won't let me go out of the country though.

I didnt know Alabama was "out of the country" in fact I dont think you can get more "into" the country! J/K

Yeah they are known for the courses in Peru but they do host a domestic course too.

My brother and I just decided that we are going to start saving for the Jungle Survival course in Peru. Hopefully it wont take too long:)

I went to the Woodland Ops last September in February. I highly recommend it to anyone even slightly interested in the great outdoors. Jeff and Jimmy are excellent instructors and it was the most fun I have had in a long time! We covered tracking, basic survival, signalling, trap building, map and compass skills, rapelling, etc. The final two day field exercise was the most fun of all. Definitely worth the money. The next one is coming up in April and is going to be a blast. I am going again.

I also attended the Woodland Ops in September. Yes, I highly recommend the course as well. We had great instructors teaching different class subjects and they took the time for individual instruction as well.
Another cool aspect of the course is that Jeff had allotted time during the course to tune the course to the groups wishes. Jeff said more than once during the course “its your course”. The course core subjects were taught with room for extra subject material or subjects. Sort of like a living course. Yes there is some class time. Have we ever been able to get away from that? (from 6 to 60 you will always have class time)
All the subjects were covered thoroughly but, if you wanted or need more dirt time with a subject then it was provided. I asked for more compass and navigation and got it. Some of the other asked for more tracking and we got it.
I'm also going back in April. I would like to see ya'll there.
