How do you think the RAT Cutlery ESEE 3 (RC3) would fare being used primarily as a salt water fishing knife? Getting wet and only being dried once back at the house. Lets say worse case scenario and the knife gets wet and bloody and doesnt get clean and dry and lubricated and gets left in the tackle box for a while?

Any other good fishing knife fixed blades you have experience with?

1095 isnt your best option...i would look for something more like this for salt water and blood and guts...its practically maintenance free

i live on the gulf coast and can tell you that my izula worn in a neck sheath will have surface rust on the edge by the time i get home later in the day after fishing.....and that is without even taken it out and using it......now all you have to do is oil it before you go out and when you get home.....but do not leave it till the next day...if you are going overnite take an oil or tufglide cloth with you.

How does the H1 steel compare in performance to 1095? Is it easy to sharpen?

Very hard stainless steel. Quite difficult to sharpen if you don't take care of it often enough. But it's a tough tough steel that has a excellent track record in salty water environments.
Can't really compare steels here because it's different uses. This one would be excellent at gutting fishes and cutting ropes and stuff. My 2p

I agree. I have the spyderco Caspian Salt (H1 steel also) for diving and it is great -the sheath sucks balls, but the knife is awesome!- Sharpening is going to be more of a chore compared to 1095, but you pretty much don't have to worry about any rust.
