I have several EDCs that I am very satisfied with and now I am looking for a rugged outdoor/survival knife is the Izula a good choice for such a knife? any other suggestions? Im not looking for anything incredibly large...

They are great, depends on what you want in an outdoor/survival knife, as they might be a little small.

yeah I was kind of thinking that...its only 6.25in overall...is there something bigger that you might suggest?

Both the RC-4 and Izula are great knives. In fact you can't go wrong with any of the RC line. The Izula is a little small as was mentioned but it makes a great companion knife for one of the larger blades.

Do any of you have the RC3 and RC4? Any advantages/disadvantages to carrying/handling one vs the other? I'm stuck between these two.

Don't mean to hijack the thread, I just think it's relevant.

I once owned a RC-3, and now own an RC-4. The RC-4 is basically an upgraded RC-3 in every aspect. I don't notice the 1" extra length on the RC-4 while carrying it, but notice a huge improvement while using it. The blade is the perfect length for outdoor use and the handle fits most peoples hands a lot better (the RC-3 was a little short and the abrupt guard always felt kinda funny). Like somebody said, you can't go wrong with a RAT Cutlery knife, they make a nice knife that is meant to be used.

I personally prefer the RC-3 over the 4. I like the thinner blade stock (better slicer, and it batons just fine) and the injection-molded sheath as opposed to the kydex. :)

I own the Izula, RC-3, and RC-6, and have played around with the whole series minus the HEST. I have no plans at this time to pick up a 4, as I just don't have the need for one between what I already have. That being said the RAT Pack at large is quite enamored with the RC-4, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. :)

The Izula is one nasty little bugger.... and the knife is too! :D I just got one last week. I wrapped mine in gutted 6mm climbing rope and it's pretty darn comfortable now. It's performed every task I've thrown at it. For hunting or camping I would get a bigger knife, RC4, that the Izula would complement, but the Izula is definitely a very usable knife.

The RC3 and RC4 handles are the exact same length. The RC4 is just a little thicker.

I just ordered the rc4--looks to be a great camp knife. I do currently own the bravo 1 from bark river--it is a great outdoor knife as well. Personally just wanted to get a back up blade and wanted to try out Rat (and what can I say, i love knives and trying other brands out:))
