Hey Im new to this forum and have recently been introduced to RAT Cutlery and Ontario knives. After doing a little research, I saw that Ontario makes knives for RAT and that both lines of knives are very similar. Im interested in the RAT 4 or TAK 1. Are there any real differences between the 2 lines of knives? Please feel free to forward me to a previous post if this question has already been asked. Thanks and I enjoy reading everyone's posts. Feel free to play jokes on me since Im new. I dont have a good sense of humor and will get mad, which only makes your jokes funnier. Im playing, i hope everyone had a good Christmas.

Slight correction, Ontario does NOT make knives for RAT. They are making knives under the RAT name. Rowen Mfg. makes knives for RAT Cutlery.

Welcome to the forum!

Alright thanks, thats all the info I need. Looks like Ill start with the RC-4 and go from there.

Welcome to the forum. The RC-4 is a great choice. I don't know your intended use but the RC-4 is a real nice middle of the road size real good for most uses.

My first and only also...well besides my izula...and the other izula I have on order. :D rc-4 is a great knife:thumbup:

I look forward to it. Ill mostly use it to dress and process game. My dad and I shot 3 deer this year and turned it into jerky and sausage ourselves. I may spring for the rc-5 sere next month too to keep in my truck. I recently bought a Lansky sharpening kit and am still practicing with it. What sharpening systems do you guys use and like? I still havent been able to get a razor sharp edge on my pocket knife. Thanks.

Welcome to the RAT forum! :) Soon you'll be a fellow addict.

From personal experience I can tell you that the TAK-1 it a great blade, one of my favorites, but if I had the choice right now, I would choose the RC line everytime. The RC-4 is a wonderful knife, and I love my RC-3, but the biggest difference is the customer service. Jeff and Mike and the guys at Rowen really care, and stand behind their knives.

Ontario makes a decent product, but after the sale it is very hard to get them to stand behind it, or even help if you need it.

Do yourself a favor, stick with Rat Culery, it will be worth it. :)

Cheers and again, Welcome!

My First RC is a RC4 as well. So far, i'm head over heals in love with it. mmm nothin better than deer jerky.
