Ok, I'm completely infatuated,, I need a swamp rat..
Ratmandu Cg,, I've yet to read a negative thing about it..
Rodent 6,, "Ratmandu on steroids"? Sign me up.
Two part question;
1. Pros/cons (if any) of either.
2. I love the look of when the top guard gets ground down on a rodent 6, but is that form over function??

Thanks for any direction

Both great knives!
RMD is a real all-rounder, R6 is a bit brutish with it's thickness, a compact chopper of sorts.

Those two are Custom Shop drop points

And the stock blades (at least shape...)

I personally would go with the RMD only because I think the R6 is to thick for its size. Now that being said Elofs custom drop point R6 does make the knife more useable but also does cost a good bit more. I personally don't know of anything a custom R6 would do that the RMD wouldn't short of chopping power but if I am planning on chopping with a knife the R6 wouldn't be my first choice either.

Cool, thanks for the insight.
I did get the impression that the RMD was an incredible, all around knife, but wondered if the rodent 6 was a little more bang for the buck.

Cool, thanks for the pics! yeah the rodent 6 does look a lot better with the top guard ground down,, also looks more comfortable.
I was wondering if it would be nice to have a little thumb indent ground in as well like on the NMSFNO?

Like Patrick has noted, R6 is much thicker than RMD and would be hard to complete some tasks with it. To remedy that you could go with full flat grind.
You would have contact custom shop to find out about possibility of any other modifications to the knives.

R6 is comfortable in hand, it has the same handle as RMD just a bit bigger, so if your hands are big, then R6 might be a better option.

Sounds like the RMD is in my future, I appreciate you all taking time to help.
Let me know if you have a favorite Kydex sheath maker, figure I'll need one of those as well.

The RMD is a great choice. I am sure a R6 will be in your future. It just seems to happen. LOL Congrats.

rcb, I'm afraid Hindsight is right! For quite a few folks RMD was the one that hooked them on to Swamp blades... me included ;)

I am not a huge fan of Kydex but I would easily recommend Jared at Paw Paw.

I thought the RMD was about the perfect knife. I have a cg with black/tan g10. Then I got the satin finish ffg black/tan RMD and holy cow! It's like a completely different knife. I didn't think it could get better but if you go RMD I highly recommend a ffg w/ the satin finish. As for kydex, there are plenty of makers on here that do great work. I make my own but got an azwelke (spelling?) with a knife and it is top notch.

RMD for sure. That's what I started with and now I have three, and some other Swamp fruit as well as a 511 and scrapivores from the Yard. I just got my first INFI blade - an SOB. INFI is interesting, seems like the fluid steel from one of the Terminator movies in solid form, and hair poppin' sharp. I like the side swells of the handle, and the belly. But where's the smooth hump along the handle spine? Now, take some hump from the handle belly and put in on the handle top and leave the side swells in place and it'd be perfect.
Shoot, get an RMD. SR101 is great stuff. Don't be scared of rust. It only does that when it wants to play.

hahahah I love it,,,

The Ratmandu is a great knife! Congrats on your decision. I like the Ratmandu over the Rodent 6 but only by a very slim margin, and only because it fits better in my hand. The Rodent 6 isn't uncomfortable by any means, the Ratmandu is just small enough for my smaller hands.

Good things sometimes come to those who wait... have a RMD INFI on the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not a bad way to start my collection

Grats on the rmd ! I love mine so much I ordered three of them , for the grandsons . Just got them and now I getting leather sheaths made . l had savage leather make me one with a pocket for a sharping stone .
