Okay, we've been whining about the choil on the Rat folder being too big for a while now. So I fixed it as shown on the bottom knife in the pic below. ;) The uupper knife in the picture is the original shape of the folder prototype. As the beleaguered Mr Porkerson might ask, "Are ya satisfied now, ya buncha whiners??"

I also reshaped the area just in front of the liner lock release to approximate a bit more of a guard. That will offer more security and less chance of your hand ramping forward onto the blade if for some unexplained reason the blade gets stopped during a thrust. Y'know, a reason like maybe you were stabbing into something you shouldn't have been trying to poke in the first place. ;)

Hi Rok Jok

I like the gaurd but I like the choil being there it makes it look more like a Swamp Rat.

Now if you could add talon holes :D or maybe that will be on the Busse folder

...but it will still have a small one.
That's good to hear, Eric. It's really not a problem at all though ............. I get dozens of email spams everyday offering pills or mechanical device solutions for small ones. ;) :D :D

(Sorry, couldn't resist ;) )

Any chance of tip up carry option? Other than that at your quoted price point it looks to be another great seller for ya.

Nicely done RJ!

One "minor thing" though.....When you change the profile of the knife in the area where the lock is located, you also compromise the geometry of the lock. Knowing what I do about locks in general, and that one in particular, changing the geometry is not "a good thing".

My suggestion here is that you need to handle the knife...it actually feels quite good in the hand.

Now to make that possible......Porkerson!!!

Just one more thing...How about a thumb stud instead of the hole (some people are studs, some are holes)  :D

Awesome, I love the changes. A tiny little choil would be cool though to help sharpen the entire blade, but I like this design a lot.

If you want to put your hands on somebody's little stud every time you use your knife, be my guest. I don't swing that way...

;)

 Some of us are studs and some are holes :footinmou

Smaller choil is ok, but pray do not change the area just in front of the liner lock. It does not fit the overall looks. The Active Duty design is definitely better ...

Smaller choil, YES!
Redesigned area just in front of the liner lock: NO!!!

Best regards!!!

This is what I would love to see as the final Swamprat folder design.

Hope you like it. Smaller choil plus AD design make up for the perfect EDC/EDU!!!

Best regards

I wonder how many times Eric and the crew have rolled their eyes and thought, "can't please everybody, they all want something different".

That last pic of the knife with a smaller choil is beautiful. I'm not a fan of holes (in the blade, perverts), but that looks like one I could get used to fingering... ;)

That smaller choil would be acceptable, but I would prefer to see it even smaller or, preferably, gone. The "original" choil is just too darn big/small. (Too small to get your finger into to choke up, too big in that it looks like it would catch anything you tried to cut.)
