I posted this on the SRKW forum, but I thought I would stick it here, too. . .
While in Florida, I introduced my friend to the wonders from Wauseon, and this resulted in a torture test.
I didn't start taking photos until it was nearly over, such is my luck.
The pick was hammered into a 1/4" thick slab of steel using several sledge hammers.
these pics were taken midway through the process. the tip is very slightly bent, but still intact.
This is a thinner piece of steel, which was hammered until it started poking out the other side. The thickness of the tip prevented full penetration of the thicker chunk.
continued pounding, maybe 20 minutes total, resulted in metal fatigue and the bent tip eventually broke off. Now it is blunted (but no more blunt than the pick came from the shop)
the only real damage to the RIP is the fact that it is now slightly bent,(right at the thin spot) which kind of sucks, but doesn't make it unuseable or affect the performance. (not sure if that is a valid warranty issue or not)
