Hi Guys,

Maybe you can help me decide which one is better?
I will use it as a self defense knife only. My last ditch knife.

1. Which one is more comfortable to carry?
2. Better steel?
3. Easier to deploy?
4. Grip
5. Pros and Cons of the 2 neck knives

Thanks!

thats really something you could reserach yourself. both of them have amples amount of info on this board. for the izula check out the ESEE page..lots of great info on that great lil knife.. as for my opinion, the izula is far more versatile.

They're very different knives.

It really depends on what you want a knife for - regardless of a common deployment method. Since you stated "self-defense only".... either would work in that regard.

However, given the blade design and keeping in mind that human skin isn't so tough that you'd notice a difference in steel i think the Emerson would be fine. The ergo's on the Emerson look like they'd allow for a stronger, more positive grip in a 'last-ditch' moment. Also, the Emerson looks smaller so carry options become greater.

From your stated criteria/intended use, i'd say the Emerson is the knife for you.

However for me, i demand flexibility in my tools so the Izula would get the nod, but that's just from my perspective.

For a last ditch knife I can't think of much better than a la griffe, very light, small, with a handle and blade shape that will let you power through a cut without what your cutting just glancing off. I love my izula but for a self defense only knife I don't think its as well suited as the la griffe. Now if you wanted a utility/all arounder thats another story... :)

I like the izula better because it has better a edge shape for EDC cutting chores. I find myself more in regular cutting chores than in self defense situation. :)

+1 for the Izula, all around better knife design IMO. If it's legal where you live, I think I'd prefer a "last ditch" PISTOL instead of a small knife.
