I just got a model 1 folder (made in Taiwan) and on the blade it says "First Production Run". What does this mean.

This folder feels large and somewhat heavy, but carries well in the hand. The action on the pivot is really smooth and an easy push on the thumbstud quickly deploys the blade (not assisted opening). It looks fairly sturdy but only complaint is that the clip doesnt slide onto clothing easily (need two hands to bend the clip to slip onto pants/pocket) and the finish at the blade tip was less than perfect (it had a small but noticeable burr).

This would be a great outdoors knife for me if I didnt like the SOG field pup fixed blade so much, and its too big for EDC, so I may not keep this one.

It means it's one of the knives that came from the first production run. We had two runs of knives before we decided to discontinue the folder due to it being made overseas.
