I'm looking for a folder to complement my RAT5 and was thinking about the Model 1 Folder, any one have any experience with one, any opinions or reviews would be appreciated.

I reviewed mine here.

After some extended use I found that I really don't work well with liner-locks, no matter how lefty-friendly they look. I retired the knife to my EDC graveyard a few months after the initial purchase and moved on.

The knife is well-made, has a good lock but is slightly over-priced and may currently be discontinued. I would buy it again, but only if it were on sale.

Think I've read more positive reviews than just spoonrobot's. I know I have not read anything negative. The knife was discontinued earlier this year IIRC. You may still find dealers with stock. I've seen it advertised for about $70.

Thanks, I went to the review and read it, I wasn't aware that the knife is made in Taiwan. Sounds like its a "Good knife". I Don't know, think I'll hum and haw over that awhile longer.

I think it's great. Reminds me of a folding Fallkniven F1. I remeber a thread where someone mentioned that Jeff Randall wanted to discontinue the Taiwan production and move it to the US, but I'm not sure how accurate that may be.

I have one, it appears to be well built, locks up nicely as well. I don't baby it and it been a work horse for me on the job. The knife is a bit heavier than I prefer though. The RAT-1 folder has been discontinued from what I have read.

I have one. It has four clip orientations so you can mount the clip your way. The grip is too slippery and just doesn't hold/open right for me. Also, it cannot be ambidextrously opened without moving the stud. I long retired this knife. High quality product though but just not for me.

Thank you very much gentlemen, I have found one on E-bay and bought it for $64.00, I will try it out, if I don't like it I will give it away to one of my Marines.

Well I got he RAT Folder it is the Satin, plane edge. It says "First Production Run" on the back of the blade, not sure if that makes it a collector type or not, but it's been in my pocket for about a week now. I like the contours of the handle, but the G-10 texture is too slippery for my tastes. I also don't much care for the thumb stud, it just seems awkward. I moved the pocket clipso the knife is in a "tip up" carry when in the pocket. It also feels awkward when doing fine cutting or slicing, like opening boxes or food preparation. It'll probably end up in my desk drawer at work and I'll give it to the next Marine that needs one.
