rat pack kit sheath

We've discussed this a little bit on a couple of occasions. It's cool that they made the sheath to work with a 5 or 6, but a knife-specific sheath with retention would be cool. Especially one that could be worn on the belt if the user desired.

Gulp, I just got some kydex from knifekits last night. Whenever some time frees up, I'm going to make a sheath for my 3 and 4 that will work with the kit. Along the same lines as what comes with the kit, but with molding for retention. We'll see how it goes. I will probably nix the sharpener loop and just use Ranger bands. The only issues I've had with my kit is the sharpener popping the zipper, but I fixed that in my sharpener mod thread that I did.

I've mentioned it before, but I'd like to get an aluminum pin with a cotter key or something and replace the Chicago screw that comes with the kit so I can quick change the sheath from 3 or 4 to 6.
 
Nix the cotter pin and use a split ring....alittle slower on the change out but the cotter pin could hang in the mesh pockets....
 
I'm looking at ways to anchor my izula into the kit. I'm just slipping it into the top now. Might try to mount it, might just add some paracord and go necker with it.

To my understanding, and my rat pack is supposed to be en route to Canada right now, the rat pack sheath dosn't hold the knife as, for exemple, the kydex sheath i have received with my RC5.. they say we have to lash a cord of some sort around the handle to lock the knife in place.. i was more planing on replacing the loose sheath of the rat pack with the kydex sheath from my RC5 since it will hold pretty good, without lashing it to the handle.
 
The sheath will provide a moderate friction fit, I just would not rock climb in this style without the cord.

and possibly used outside the kit
sorry just not digging the setup as is
for the knife part
otherwise the kit rocks
 
Talk to shotgunner11 or one of our other resident kydex wizards about a sheath. Shotgunner has a RP Kit so you might check there first. Or you might check with Dizwolf and see if a factory 6 sheath will fit in the kit. I'd check but I don't have a factory sheath. Improvise my friend.

Are you looking at a kit with a 5 or 6?
 
I don't have my gear where I am today, but I'm thinking you could fit the stock sheath inside, or use the molle clips in a double fashion on both sides of the sheath and have the knife outside, and then clip it to gear still. Or hang it all off a molle backing that way too. That'd make the rat pack like a jumbo ass pouch.
