We are currently sold out of the RAT Packs. If you already have an order in it will be shipped but any new orders will have to wait until we get stock from the manufacturer. You can still order but it won't ship right away. That should be first week of Jan, 2010 or so. They sold a bit faster than I figured they would and I did not reorder in time. I am sorry for the delay.
Thanks for buying the kits folks! Mike

Cool!! Nice to know you've got another winner, since people seem to like them as much as I do. Didn't order one yet though...

...Standby...

Thanks,

D-R
(P.S.: thanks also on keeping us informed like this!)

Mike any plans on selleing just the RATpacks w/o the knife? I already have both the knives and would like to pick up just the pack.

For now it will sell only with a knife. Maybe later we can figure something without the knife but it really is a good deal with knife and fire kit. Mike

I may pick one up when they come back in stock since I was thinking of grabbing a RC6 and a new design fire kit anyways.

Some quick math and I came up with the sheath alone being worth about $45 which I think is fair, especially for being made here in the United States.

That's way cheaper than we even pay for them. No way you will ever see that sheath for 45 bucks.

Here's my math estimate, it may be way off but here's how I came up with the $45;

Kit is $187

Subtract $100 for the RC6 = $87

$87 - $25 for the fire kit = $62

$62 - appx. $17 for the diamond hone and Aloxsak = appx. $45 remaining.

That's why in the context of buying the whole kit, it's a very good deal.

That's because they are fan-friggin-tastic Mike!

I love mine, it's a perfect grab and go kit.

Did you save one for the shelter contest or are we waiting to judge that guy 'til later anyway?

Everyone wanted extra time on the shelter contest so it will after mid-December before we judge it.

@ any rate $187 for the ratpack is a very good price, I am really interested in buying one but... I like to wait and see what kinds of results others get with them before I buy one. but I am sure they are worth every penny.

I don't have one but what type of "results" are you waiting for? ;)

Jeff, you have one that can change the oil in a pickup or something? :D

As far as, usefulness, durability, what you can fit in it, a few reviews, that type of results. I am new to the whole idea of b.o.b's and packs, I am interested in one but want to make sure what ever I buy will fit my purpose. that is when I find out what purpose I may need to fit! my and my buds camped alot as teens but we didn't have all this hitech gear, hell I am enammored by the amount of gear that is out there.

Totally understandable, means. 187 dollars is a lot of money and we would rather someone wait and know exactly what they are buying before making that purchase.

Mike P I was going to order a RC-6 I think I'll order The Ratpack w/a RC-6 When they are back in stock.,Can I order on The Rat site? Thanks for your time.

You know, I put a hell of a lot more "stock" in that experience than in official, taught by the military survival instructors.

I wish I had all this stuff back in the late 70s and throughout the 80s!

I remember ordering from Brigade Quartermasters or U.S. Cavalry in the mid-80s and it would drain all of your disposable income for a while!
