Hi guys,

I'm stuck here, I'm having a hard time deciding between the RC 6 or the Hossom Woodlander, both fit my needs ( overall camping knife that can get some chopping done but thats not too big ) but which is better? I know the Woodlander has a sick rolled edge, so it holds it'll hold its edge till the world ends and its N690co is super strong. but the RC 6 has a nice full flat grind, 1095 carbon steel and a sick warranty. Anyways I just cant decide, help me out please!!!

Evan

I would get the RC-6. That warranty is priceless on its own. Break your knife-get a new one....simple choice.

Both are great knives from awesome companies. They both have solid warranties also. I'd go for the Rat just because.

I've handled a Forester and the RC-5. I have medium, maybe smallish hands with longish fingers, and the Forester fit my hands better than the RC-5 did. The RC-6 has the same slabs as the RC-5 (linen micarta vs. canvas micarta, but otherwise identical), so the same situation likely applies.

If you have medium or larger hands, I'd say either would be fine. Otherwise, you might prefer the handle on the Woodlander, as it's my understanding that the Woodlander, Forager, and Forester all have the same handles (and that it's the Dayhiker that is smaller).

Hopefully that helps :)

I'm not into recurved edged knives.I do all my sharpening freehand and despise sharpening recurves. When I get my beltsander that might change. So for me the answer is simple,RAT RC6.Plus I have one and Love the heck out of it!!

I'd get them both, the spyderco looks wicked :D

But the better no-nonsense knife is the RC 6

WARNING: all rat cutlery blades are highley addictive, buy one and you ARE going to be addicted ;) :D

Really tough choice if you're asking me...
I'd got with the RAT, just because I think it could take more abuse.

Alright guys, you certainly helped me, I'm gonna order the RAT, I'll post some pics when I get it. Thanks a lot!!!! =)

Actually, the RC6 handles will feel a lot different because they are not attached to a 1/4" thick tang. They wont feel as boxy.

They're a little less boxy, but not enough to fit my hands as well as my RC-4. I had actually ordered an RC-6 from New Graham a few days ago, but I'm returning it because my hands are a little too small for the handles...phooey. It's an awesome knife though. Other than the handle size, I definitely liked it more than my Forester.

RAT and Spyderco are both awesome companies but for the fixed blade stuff I like my RAT better than my lone Spyderco fixed blade. Now for folders it is Spyderco for me.
