I just received a new RC-6. Thanks to all who chimed in with opinions on my camp/utility questions. I chose this knife because I thought it provided the best quality/cost/use/warranty ratios.
My initial impressions, without having been out of my office with it yet, are pretty positive. The balance is on the index finger, which makes it feel light for it's weight (11.8oz). The linen micarta handles feel very grippy, and I am sure they will hold up to abuse. The molded sheath is solid, with alot of attachment options. I may eventually have one made to suit my needs, but htis will do fine. The blade is pretty sharp, but I am sure it will take a better edge (probably not needed). I can't wait to get out in the woods with it.
One question- I notice a few companies mill a fire bow dimple in the handle slab, which seems like a good idea (not on this knife). A quick shot with a countersink bit would achieve this very easily. Has anyone found this feature to be useful? Otherwise, I think this knife is ready to get outdoors.
