I've been buying many books lately. I get them from Barnes & Noble and Amazon (So much to learn and so little time.) Anyway, I've been cutting up the cardboard evidence of my purchases with my RC4. (I've learned that if one seeks matrimonial harmony, it is wise to hide cardboard delivery boxes from She Who Cooks.) Anyway, the RC4 is a cutting demon. I've destroyed a couple dozen boxes and I've only touched up the blade on a charged leather pad once. It's scary sharp.

Yep I like their steel easy to maintain ang a pretty good edge retention, but wait till it will begin to get used, the bevels will disappear (especially if you strop it), and the coating will smooth itself, than not only will it cut well, but their will be less resistance past the making them even more effective. My izula and the RC6 are just amazing now, the HEST and the RC4 not yet, haven't used them enough

That's why I have always liked 1095 steel. Easy to sharpen, tough enough, and takes a keen edge.

Yea, I've found that my RATs have a great balance of edge retension and easy sharpenability, at least for me.

When the heat treat is right 1095 is a great steel for the working mans tool. And RAT has it down to a T. RAT cutlery products have replaced almost all of my sharp pointy tools for daily use.

The other day i got my Izula sharp enough to...it was beyond shaving, I pressed the flat of the blade to my arm and slid it down, the hair all jumped off to get out of the way. ;)

...and then of course I had a bare stripe...didn't think that through

Man......glad I'm not the only one that did that! :D But, for me, it was well worth it. :p

Thats funny I don't care who you are.. and ya, when I get to sharpening a pile of knives.. (I'm lazy by nature and they stack up to all be done in one sitting) Well when you run out of arm hair, there's legs, and occasionally chest....

Once they're all sharp I tend to look like I've taken an A$$ kicking by a Bic Razor.
