Was browsing ebay and found a Rat Trap for $137 starting bid. Based on my research, that was OG price. Nobody else bid so she's here with me now--forever and ever. Such an awesome knife. Big folder that rides good!

How did I never see that these were big folding ADs? Back in the day, I dismissed them because of the tip down clip--lol. Who cares? Really hope the Busse folder uses the AD as a base design. Love that little knife.

Anybody got Rat Trap pics? I'll take some when my wife gets home with the camera.

Sweet score!! I paid more than that for mine. Here it is next to a FHFG RMD for reference.

Nice

I am having some threaded holes put on one of mine.
Tip down blech.

Rat Trap... Did Someone say Rat Trap?
And Did Someone FIND a Rat Trap for the Original Price?
That's Pretty Amazing, Alright.. Congrats, Rover...!

I don't have a way to Post Photos here on the BF; Its system Won't Allow That "Insert Image" Function to work... Don't know how others do it; mine doesn't.
But, here is a Link to Select, which DOES function properly... Permission Granted to View with Link Addy:

One Rat Trap is barely used; to the left;

The other in the Center is pristine, it is Number 95, & only lives in its comfy sheepskin case: Ooooo!!!

But Yeah, the tip is where it is; Yet it rides just fine & dandy, without opening on its own.

Both Tip Up And Tip Down have their drawbacks if they open on their own:
{ One (Down) will stab your thigh;
The other (Up) will stab your hand when you reach in for it,
OR your Gut if you use the finger & thumb removal method & Don't Reach In. . . }

And it isn't too big for EDC, imo, yet since they are RARE, I don't want to lose it.

So the barely used R-Trap sits about a foot away from this laptop, as The Desk Blade...

No, Not The Death Blade, that's on the other side...

No, Not The Dark Blade, that's under the pillow;

Just The Desk Blade...

Yes, As Rover Pictorially points out -- or should I say, illustrates? -- ALL Fixed Blades, if worn in Vertical Sheaths, Are Tip Down...!
Does Anyone Here carry Tip Up, on a Fixed Blade? I Don't Think So...!
(Okay, the Necker Knife Can Be Tip Up ... 😜 )
The Alternate is horizontal scout-style carry, so that's neither Tip Up Nor Tip Down, but Tip Left Or Tip Right...
I'm feeling tippy already... ( Or is that tipsy...? )

More than a few years ago I went down to see Uncle Hammie at the Columbus Gun Show. Left Cleveland early enough to get in line there before the doors opened. Practically ran to his table and was fortunate to find two Rat Traps. Mike said that they were his last two, so I may have bought the last pair sold at retail until now. Eventually let them free on eBay for ~$200.

Some regrets.
