I stripped, polished, and convexed this Warden for a necker. I left the finish on the handle so my sweat wouldn't rust it.

It's one sharp little Rat!!

Is there a reason to convex such a short slicer blade? I was under the impression that a convex edge is great in a chopper and a flat ground edge was better for a slicer. Thoughts? (Anyone, for that matter.)

BTW - it DOES look great.

Thanks, guys!

Dennis, I am able to get a much sharper and longer-lasting edge by convexing than I can on a V-grind. This thing will take the tops off my arm hair.

Could be just me, but I bet others have similar experiences.

Nice Job! Looks better IMO, the tip looks perfect.

I have a convexed Skeleton Warden .190" and a factory edge .190" Warden, when slicing pork the convex edge is noticeably easier to cut/slice with. Under heavy use (batoning) with my Warden I have noticed the convex edge looses it hair splitting edge quickly, faster than it did with the factory edge. But it's able to maintain a working edge for a very long time after the initial loss.

Bigger knives I can't tell any difference between convexed and asymmetrical edges in terms of edge retention, I'm perplexed. An edge is an edge, right? I should probably mention Ban does my convex edges, so odds are they were done correctly.

my warden is one of sharpest knives.

is that the one you scored last week? if so, that was fast shipping and stripping!

I scored 2, this was the 2nd. They both got the same treatment. One for me and one for a friend.

Cool! Did you have to sand out any dimples or was the steel that 'clean' after you stripped it?
