RAT1: Lasted longer than i thought

Hey all,

No I didn't break it! but i did have to remove some thing from the knife and clip.......:rolleyes:

Acid washed the logo before stripping the coating

had to etch the logo on the clip by hand

Still have a bit of coating on it here and there but its hardly notice able and doesn't bother me any
let me know what ya think
 
Looks good. My favorite folder is my orange rat 1 satin blade. Your title cought my eye, I thought you broke it, I wanted to see how.
 
Looks nice! I had to do the same thing.I am not a fan of coated blades.This is how my Rat1 came out.

Nice! It wasn't that shiny under the coating was it? What did you use on the blade after the coating was gone?

no it wasn't, i scraped of the paint with a knife (surprise surprise) and it looked like Flatbackcapo's only a little light

I wet polished using liquid Flitzand following int this odrer: 600gritpaper ,800grit brillo pad, 1200gritpaper, 1500paper,

from there i dried and cleaned the knife, then used my strop with white, green and ruby polish to make it really shine.

when i was finished i used a super fine silver cloth to buff out finger prints and mirco scratches ( this par was pointless)
 
I need to strip the clip on my orange one, the black clip looks "off" to me on a knife with a satin blade and orange handles.
