Selling expensive knives and getting good deals on less expensive knives can be fun.

In this case, a $90-100 knife that has been a pleasant surprize.

First off, I realized that my chopping needs had been satisfactorily met by the Battle Rat that I recently aquired.

So the issue of d2 and chopping are not an issue for me. This knife, after thinning the edge a little, and then stropping has proven to be a very useful and durable kitchen/slicing utility.

I have actually used it almost every day for a while now(a month), and still just as pleased as the the first time use.

The handle is a little block like or square, this was easily remedied using some drum sanding wheels and attachments.

Sorry for not having pictures, no camera right now. But will post some when I`m able.

Just wanted to brag on this blade a little. I highly recommend this blade, it takes very little to turn it into real keeper. :)

I'm embarassed to say that I have this knife but I've never used it. I got it a few weeks ago and was pretty disappointed. First of all, it was not sharp and still had a wire edge that had not been honed away. I started in on it and got the thing into shape pretty soon. While sharpening it, I realized the grip panels were poorly fitted. Since I didn't like the slab shape anyway, I went to work on the grips with sandpaper. The grips now fit properly and the blocky shape of the handle is much improved in the way it fits the hand.

After spending that much time just to get the knife in shape to use, I put it in my tool box for when the occasion and need arises. Not knowing how it will perform for cutting and chopping, I can't comment on that. I will say that the Becker knives I've used came much sharper, with a better fit and at a much better price.

Yeah, that is Ontario's, they are at the low end of the production quality spectrum. Some of their knives make very decent working tools if you get a good one, but the grinds and even worse the steel consistency is fairly low. There are better alternatives both cheaper and more expensive.

Hmmm I have had a good experience with my Rat 7.....Tho now that I think on it. It was secondary market and prior to me it may have been sharpened.
The experiences by Lee and Cliff are unfortunate for Ontario as the sample I have is spot on in useability.

All My Beckers (7, 9, 10, Campanion) were just fine right out of the box. They were all NIB from retailers..
