Maybe a moderator can do some avatar over-ride to "HELP" you.... ;)

This looks pretty decent and about the right size to me (although in satin! ;) ):

Finks photo-chop skills are WAY better than mine, but the blades and handles are a little longer than I prefer. I want a one hand user! - Great replacement for a machete. (Ratchete). But, with a AK47 / Wakizashi style blade.

I still like: RATKIZASHI ;)

.

Rat Fink - do you actually have those Rat swords, i guess you might call em? If so when were they run by the store? You interested in getting rid of one of them?

Reconseed has the "BUG" bad..... He is trying to buy every Rat even those not made.

Swamp Rat made at least one "Proto" concept Rat sword, but it was never known to be sold to the public. Who knows who has it - Jerry, Eric... ???

But, they have never "Sold" any Rat swords to the public. And I don't know of any private sale of a Rat sword ever happening (???).

The largest Swamp Rat blade to date would be the Rat Daddy.

This websited: http://www.swampshack.com/ has a lot of pics and info of older Swamp Rat history.

Unfortunately, most of the newer blades from the last couple of years have not been updated and added to this web-site. I wish it were updated and maintained.

See: "Area 51" for a bunch of concept pics.

Scrap Yard has never sold a sword. Their longest blade is the Dogfather.

Busse, has sold a couple of versions of the AK-47 (AK = American Kensei) in INFI and A2 steel and a slightly shorther "Ruck Kensei" in INFI.
Busse has also "made" a couple of varous proto sword type blades that seem to have made some circulation. (???)

BUT, the AK-47 sells for about $600 - $1000 + :thumbdn: :grumpy:

My pics (like Finks) are also "photo-chop" concept blades that were NOT made.

yea, it is bad. i am going to throw my macbook outside in the snow so i dont buy anymore rats.... even the ones rat finkenstein makes in photoshop!!! :)

I think an SR-101 version of the Ruck would be the best overall design. I'm still wavering as far as handle configuration and material should be. I really love Res-C and in this type of blade a handle of Ruck length with the same shape as the original Res-C handles (including the bumps at the front and rear) would be really great. I think the bumps would keep that thing stuck in you hand during fast and furious swings. I do like Micarta as well, but I think keeping the weight down by using Res-C will also speed the blade up quite a bit.

Here's a link to some pics of Rucks and AKs from Eric:

So Bully, RatRuck with Res-C and some killer color combos would make a great 2008 gift for all of us loyal RATS. I'm thinking a bad ass swamp camo somewhat reminiscent of this would be awesome. We need some camo around here.

I don't know it there was ever a Rat Sword Prototype, but the Bully has admitted the existance of a Rat-Machete prototype.

BRING THE RATCHETE!!!!

That is what I am talking about!!!

- A single handed grip would be more than sufficient for a Ruck sized bladed (15" - 17"). I would definitly want a "beack" at the pommel.

- A one handed grip would allow for faster and more nimble use. A Ruck sized blade is too short for two hands IMO. Any extra handle length would just get in the way. When have you ever seen a machete or Barong or Golok with a two handed grip. These are all similar in size. I feel you really must have a long and/or heavy blade to justify needing two hands.

- A one handed grip with a guard and a beak shaped like the large Res-C handle or something in micarta with a similar shape would "LOCK" your hand into a VERY secure grip - same as with a large chopper. But, if you try to use a two handed handle with one hand, it is NOT ideal.

- A one-handed grip is much more compact and easier to carry. If you are going to carry it into the bush or field to clear paths, shooting lanes, etc. - A two handed grip would add about 5" - 6" which is significant.

I like the feel of the Res-C and believe the larger Res-C handle would work and function VERY well.
But, I also like the idea that micarta would allow for a full tang which is much stronger. (???)

I still like these two with about 15" - 17" blade - best so far:

Bottom pic in tan of course with that brindled rat-stripe camo. I would also lose the little hook at the choil and smooth the choil right into the RES-C:thumbup: handle. Make it so Bully.

I like tan micarta, but if dealing with Res-C, I easily prefer BLACK and SATIN! :D ;)

But, I think I do prefer without the hook. - small choil.....

This looks a little better:

The swords are a great idea! Make two of them. Resiprene handles, one single and one double. 2 Versions of each. Black crinkle coat, and the satin LE. The blade on the double handle should be a little wider than the blade on the single. Call them "the Rateous Brothers" (righteous).
