ratchet lock???

Hello BF members, i have a pretty general question that if possible id like some answers to..

i am not too familiar about the ratchet locking system (well. other then to obvious).. my dad has a knife that was given to him by his grandfather... this knife is something like a Navaja (an old Spanish knife)

anyways i really like the sound the lock makes, the shape of the blade and the uniqueness.. i really havnt seen any around until i bought a random cold steel knife, the Kudu.. nothing against the knife, but i don't like the ring lock and i want something a bit smaller..

can anyone give me some suggestions? i google'd alot of different combos and only came back with utility knifes..

also is there any reason why this locking system died out? impractical? any companies still making a nice knife with this system?

I think that once you find out about what you have, you will have better luck looking for something new.
