My Fantasy team, THE DAGGERS just completed the 1st trade in the JK league with Ky English . Please le me know how good or bad you
I traded my 5th round pick Wes Welker, WR to KY English for his 8th Round pick, Antonio Gates TE
What do you think? I will start Gates this week in place of Heath Miller and I think KY intends to start Welker also.
 
I think the person that got Welker cleaned up.

Gates has been good in the past, but has been very injury prone and spotty in terms of production.

Welker has the best QB in the league finding him, and Manning seems to be liking Welker as a target.

Welker will get more touches than Gates, and his touches should yield more points.

If you needed a TE, Gates is a good TE3 or flex play in this league.

Welker will get more catches than anyone else in the league fairly easily.

I think i got a steal BUT I think gates is going to be good this week, didn't want to see him go, and while he's healthy, from what I've ready, he's a very steady TE, so long as this healthy streak keeps up. Then again I'm the one who traded so my opinion is probably moo (sic)

B...i assume that your other WR's are very good? Welker is just about a top 10 receiver going forward. that's fantasy gold. Gates is ok. but, i don't think he will be a consistent difference maker. i think Heath Miller will put up similar numbers. the gap between TE's is typically not as significant as the gap between WR's. KYe...you made out like a bandit on that one.

Couldn't believe that KY got Welker for Gates. I'd give your grade an F on that one. Sorry, hope I'm wrong.
 
Well, the jury is in! Hey Ky....looks like you should give me a draft pick or player to be named later in additional compensation!
( Actually, I love this trade! I am so deep in WR's that I had not even played Welker yet, and was not going to this week either. Prefered a guy who would start for me every week (Gates) to a player riding the pines (Welker). Lets play ball!
 
There ya go - it may be a perfect trade for your team, and I have had Gates in the past, so good luck!

i just had to go look. yeah...you have a very good team B. however, in terms of total points, Welker was still your #2 receiver. he should not have been on your bench.

that's the trick with trades. find the minimum your opponent will accept, and try to get the maximum in return. my guess is you could have acquired Gates for much less than welker. my guess is KYe would have accepted Garcon or VJax for Gates. But, i would have just offered Tavon Austin, and then gone from there. it's dickering, just like anything else.

or, you could combine players. for example, you could offer Miller and Austin for Gates and "Some Schmoe". so, in essence, you are offering a two-for-one to your opponent. this still gets you the guy you want.

not trying to preach here B. I think you said you were new to fantasy, so just trying to tell you my thought process.
 
As long as your happy with the trade it doesn't matter what we think. Can't believe you was sitting welkwr though.
 
Glad to hea you say so, Boss, these guys were starting to make me feel bad...not that bad though :) I wouldn't worry, my luck will make sure this was a good trade for you :p

Welker? I would have killed for someone like him. Course, I got Graham as a TE. My WR are meh, but my RB leave a lot to be desired, LOL
 
I think that KY should have Welker sit this week until he gets comfortable with his new team. And, no, the fact that KY is playing me this week has nothing to do with that opinion. Nothing at all! :D
 
watch, now we've said this welker will score 1 and gates 20 this week, and saintly brees will be able to say "see, told ya." :)
 
Well, well, looks like both traded players did just fine for their new owners! 19 points each!
