rate your steels chart!

I have been thinking this for awhile. I would like to see some members ratings of different cutlery steels in order from those you would expect to pay the lowest for, up to those that are worth holding out for in a model. I would like to see increments more linked to price and value of one steel directly above or below another, in your wallets opinion! (you would pay more for VG10, over 440C, but more for N690 than VG10, and so on.)
It should be interesting, and hopefully a help to those looking to decide which steel is best for their pricepoint range.

a quick one:

1 440a
2 420HC
3 Aus 6
4 VG10
5 N690
6 Elmax
7 S35V

etc...

I avoid the really cheap steels, since I can afford better, so I'll start around the middle

I'm sure I missed a couple. In fact I know I did, mainly non-stainless, but I'm not very big on non-stainless steel, as the ratings show on my list :) I'm all for an overall package vs a steel that excels in one area.

I'll take almost any powdered steel. very few that are not. I'm indifferent about carbon steel for fixed blades. tho I do enjoy some high carbon steel for folders too, m4, maxamet, 10v etc. can't rate any of these in any order.

overall as long as the heat treat and geometry is good, I'm happy.
