Rather Ugly

A lot of those development prototypes were fugly. This one was evidently an attempt to adapt the Loveless style drop point blade to the 15OT handle. Perhaps this piece was a precursor to the 13OT.

The extreme radiused choil is familiar to me. The Imperial Frontier line, I believe.

I like these oddballs. They show the creativive work that goes into designing a knife. No telling how many of these variations were tried and canned. But from an engineering, historical standpoint, I find them interesting.

The 3OT Aussie Larry scored is such an example, a design tried but, for whatever reason, not put into production. It just so happens we find that one attractive, though evidently it was not deemed so in 1958/59.

it does look odd. wonder how it would look without the guard there? maybe a sleeker handle, no guard, and a thumb rest?? could have been a cool knife. either way, someday it will probaly be worth a boot-load to somebody. heck, i would take it, if i could afford it!
