Just curious what kind of lateral strength something like the rmd and hrlm have. Should I worry about breaking them prying rotting logs? Or are they plenty strong? Does anyone have pics of them being bent to 30 degrees? Or more? Just wondering. Thanks

Although I havent seen any pics or lateral tests done to a RMD I have done my fair share of prying with one and they hold up just fine. SR101 is some tough stuff and I wouldnt worry about breaking your RMD.

Any one else? Im curious what kind of strength somewhat thin sr-101 has. The rmd isnt the thickest knife. I would like to know what kind of abuse it can take. So far it is my favorite knife, I love it. Its perfect

RMD is 3/16" thick SR101 (52100). It is an incredibly tough steel. It can be broken but it would take tremendous pressure and abuse to do it.

The first thing I really noticed when I had my first taste of SR101 in slightly thinner RMD le was how stiff the blade felt when I pried apart a 2x6. Compared to some much thicker knives it did a lot less flexing for a much thinner knife. Seems extremely strong to me.

I really doubt you could bend the RMD 30 degrees by hand without any sort of cheater aid. I would be willing to bet you could pry till your heart is content and it would ask for more!!!

This is what I like to hear. Im really impressed with this knife.

I would think if you put a RMD in a vise in the middle of the blade and used just your hands you would have no chance of giving it a "set" much less snap it off.
