My Ratmandu was shipped last week and was expected to arrive on Thursday the 20th. With the holiday season it didn't make it. It did arrive Friday either. I felt sure that Saturday was the day!

My wife was home all day yesterday and the USPS tracking says that the package was "Out For Delivery" yesterday.

No knife.

I do so hope that it's going to be a Swamp Rat Christmas. I just wonder where that knife is. :(

THE KNIFE IS HERE!

The mailman just dropped it off. :)

It's a nice knife. A bit rougher than I had expected. The coating has a lump in it near the spine and there's an uneven groove that starts on one side of the lanyard hole and ends before the other side of the hole. It'll be a good user but I suspect most collectors would want a perfect example if I ever felt the desire to sell it.

The updated status shows the knife went from "Out For Delivery" yesterday to being shipped back to the distribution center in Salem last night. My postal carrier must have mixed it in with their outgoing mail in their truck and sent it back the wrong way. Strange how that happened.

At least it doesn't appear to be lost or delivered to a stranger. :)

Ive had the same thing happen to me over and over, human error. Frustrating, but when it arrives its even more awesome!

Reminds me, I need a newest generation RatManDu. It never ends. :)

Yeah, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow. I know the mail carriers are crazy busy right now. The only part I didn't like was when I was wondering where it actually was at this point. Still in the hands of the USPS is good news. :)

Thanks guys! I've still never seen a Swamp Rat in the flesh.

It was a bit disconcerting reading that the knife was with my Postal carrier yesterday and headed to my house only to find that it was never delivered. When I got home at midnight I was wondering, if the knife isn't here, where is it? Strange that it went from my mail carrier in their Jeep yesterday, back to my local post office and from there back to the distribution center in Salem. Can't understand that one.

I had the same thing happen a couple of months ago, with my Rodent Solution. It showed as being out for delivery and then back to the regional sorting station. Because I was tracking it, I knew something was wrong, so I went to the post office and got it sorted out. Apparently the address had my delivery address but the postal code for my billing address. It might behoove you to get to the post office and do an enquiry.

It's happening all over the place with USPS. I have had a knife in transit from a private sale here on BF since 12/10.It is from Ca. to N.j. and has been bounced around first in Ca. and now finally it's on the east coast and pinballing about the Jersey City area.As long as you can track it and it's not MIA or worst yet
"DELIVERED" but not to you.
The RMD will be that much sweeter once it lands.

Thanks for the info. :)

If the knife doesn't arrive today I'll have to check into this. I don't have a separate billing address from my actual address so I don't know where the problem could be. It almost seems like the package just got mixed up with the outgoing mail in my carriers truck and then automatically got returned to the sorting center. Of course I don't know how their system works, but that's the only thing that makes sense to me. :)

I wouldn't wait. If I hadn't gone into the post office, it would have been shipped back to Ohio.

The USPS website changed the expected delivery date from 12/20 (it was still listed as that on Saturday night) to 12/24. I don't see how they could ship the package all the way back to the sender if they're looking at the address it's supposed to ship to. It WAS in my mail carrier's truck on Saturday according to the tracking info. I don't understand the screw up but I suspect it will make it's way here today. If it goes back to Ohio, it'll be here later in the week.

My Swamp Rat experience sure has been interesting up to this point.

I do want to order a Scrapyard as well. That should be a barrel of laughs! :D

Keeping a good sense of humor is always the best course of action, :)

Where are the pics?

Didn't think to take any today. It's just a black handle, tanker grey RMD.

Back in the '80s my best friend and I were in the 82nd Airborne Division together. We went to a local knife shop in Fayetteville a bought matching knives by a new builder named Baskett. In the years since, mine went missing and just recently my friend's knife was lost when his car was stolen with it in the trunk.

I was hoping that the RMD would be a great knife to buy a matching pair along with a couple of kydex sheathes so we'd have the same knife again. I'm not really sold on it now that it's here. I'm actually closer to buying him a BATAC as it's still THE knife that I'd grab if I had to trust my life to a knife.

Maybe the RMD will grow on me. It's nice enough but I'm not blown away. :)

My rmd just got shipped out last week as well. And arrived today. Usually my knives r wrapped up in customs for a couple weeks but made it through in record time! Miracle of christmas! And my spirit of christmas is Rye! I think this mAy end up being my knife to end all other knives! But i'll wait to try'er out and beat the s€£t out of her a bit b4 i make an honest opinion.

Enjoy your Swamp Rat. My RMD is a constant companion in my bag, and I recently put a Tek-Lok on the sheath so I can belt-carry it too. I even got some use out of my Rucki this weekend, hacking through some weeds while looking for some coins I had shot target practicing with my AR. I hit a dime at 25m and put it on my keychain.
