Ratmandu question.

Just opened a package containing my first Swamp Rat knife: a Ratmandu. It is the perfect length and weight. It feels amazing in hand. Like an extension of me. Now, is it called the Ratnamdu because it's perfect? Because it is. If not, what is the basis of the name? MY GOD WHAT A KNIFE! This will make the perfect EDC and woodbumming knife, and I thank Swamp Rat for producing it.
 
I need a bit more than rhetorical help actually. Any recommendations on a Kydex sheath for it? I have a leather one coming from Rainwalker so I might go that route but I'd like to know who already has a template and see a couple examples if anyone is so kind. Thanks!
 
I agree with you that the Ratmandu is a perfect blade.

Thanks Max! I sliced an orange into paper and have been cutting everything I can. I feel like a child with my first knife. Haven't felt like that in a long time. I am glad I finally picked one up.
 
Although I give the edge (lol) to the very similar Scrapper 5 le, the ratmandu is a very nice design. Did you get micarta or g10? For a coated blade I prefer a kydex sheath.
 
I just got a Rainwalker sheath with a large tech-lock for my Ratmandu in the mail today, it fits perfectly and is great quality, I'd definately recommend it. I'd post pictures but I don't have a camera, sorry.

And yes, it is the perfect knife. :D

Ah yes, grasshopper. RatManDu come from expression, "RatManDu what Rat woman say!" ;)

(PS: I didn't make that up. Somebody at JD posted it. Pretty clever, I think. :D )
 
Every time I read one of these threads, I try to remember why I let my RMD go. :mad:

Black Micarta. I'll be going kydex on this one. In line for a Rainwalker sheath now and very excited. I might add a firesteel loop, not sure. Does anybody make kydex with screws instead of rivets so they can be broken down and cleaned?
 
member David E is a Kydex bender, and he does a taco style that you can open to clean out. No pics, but you can contact him through the forum or his web site.
(no knife sheath pics on that site)
 
I have an Okuden sheath for my RMD and one each for both SC5 and SC5 LE. They are truly perfect.

I like Rainwalkers aesthetics but I'd really like to be able to clean my kydex on this one. Thanks, if anyone has a David E sheath or knows of a pic, please hook me up.

Can you break the Oduken down? I really, really think that should be priority #2. Oh, and I also want a fire-steel loop :p
