Aquired ratmandu through trade. It's going to be a utility knife, used when working in the woods, clearing trails, maybe even clean an animal in a pinch, and general around the house utility type stuff. However, it will spend alot of time on my side while riding 4 wheelers, tractors, lawnmower, etc around. I don't want it falling out. I'd prefer something with a snap closer, but that all I'm familiar with. Do kydex sheaths hold it tight enough that it won't fall out if I get a little wild on the 4 wheeler, etc? Recommend some sheaths that won't break the bank?

Yes, kydex from one of the well-known makers here should be just fine. You could probably even specify that you wanted extra tight retention. I'd personally recommend AzWelke or BuyBrown.

I have a Mashed Cat for mine and it's not coming out unless you pull it out.

If you want the best, most secure kydex sheath, go with a Brian Okuden sheath. I have never felt a kydex sheath as secure as his

You can go kydex by the makers mentioned and you will get a quality piece.

If your looking for some other ideas, the small Spec Ops combat master sheath fits RMDs, but you will need to remove the kydex inner portion and heat it, press it snuggly sound your knife, and reinstall it---in order to get a better fit to your RMD.

The sheaths work great as they come, but can accommodate blades larger then the RMDs, so they fit somewhat loosely. They have a strap that goes across the handle to help secure the knife. Give them a look.

Thanks everyone for the leads. I like the way the spec ops one (even though its *cringe* tacticool) option. Also read about making one out of PVC but I'd hate to lose it cause it wasn't held in very well.

RMD is too nice for a PVC sheath, any of the kydex makers mentioned here (I have at least one from each and lots from Buy Brown) will have what you need.

I am going to have Eli over at Godspeed do mine to fit one of my ESEE 5 Molle backs. Then it will have 3 types of retention if you want it.

Might look tacticool, but it's features will come in handy for aggressive activities. Plus I just visited their site. Some sheaths are now at half what I've paid in the past. Needless to say, I snagged a couple.

The custom sheath makers on this forum do excellent work. Most will accommodate special requests of features and color, etc. and all ship finished items in a reasonably quick timeframe from my experience.

And for kydex Al (AzWelke) replies to e-mails surprisingly quickly and is always friendly.
