Well I said I would make a video of the Ratmandu and I did. I did not get to spend as much time as I wanted to doing so due to my daughter being over tired. There was a lot more I wanted to cover, but ill take this as a learning experience. This is the first video I have ever made. Please leave me feedback on what you would like to see in up coming videos and what you think I need to improve on. I hope you enjoy.

I tried Annotating things unsuccessfully and for some reason when I linked all of the short videos I made into one continuous video I lost some of the things I was saying. I will try to do better next time. Thanks for watching and sorry if you feel I've wasted your time :P

Thank you! No time wasting here. :) Thanks for taking the time to do it. :D

Thank you for sharing that bpiatt!!
It's really cool for ya to take the fam out like that.. Never let that
fade away..!

This vid will definitely help some of those that are on the fence about purchasing a
RMD, go ahead and make a wise decision and purchase one!

EDITED to add---

I just read the part with you pre-apologizing for possibly wasting someones time.....

... What are you talking about?!?! Thanks for posting that... I need to get out in the woods and make some vids myself !!! Maybe if we join forces we could liven this place up a little..... :D

This was my first video ever and didnt really know what to say in it so I decided to just let the knife speak for it self. I spend a lot of time on youtube and know how some people get when they dont see a video they like so I was trying to keep the flaming down lol.

Thank you all for your kind words, lets see how many people we can convert to Swamp rat and get this forum popping. Every time I go out im going to bring my camera and show people what this company is putting out. A lot of my friends are big knife lovers and they have never heard of Swamp Rat. Im changing that :D

Thanks for taking the time to make the video. I love wearing my Ratmandu while in the woods. I have not used it to chop wood but like having the confidence that I could. The best recent use ive had was to pry out the ivory teeth on an unfortunate bull elk found in the woods.

Cool vid man and an awesome little knife. But if your going to be doing much more chopping you definately need a "RAT MASTIFF".
That baton was really taking a beating. :D More so than the Rmd i think. Great job the Rmd still looks to be a very capable knife though. I need one.

Good video and great knife!

Only advice that I'd add ... is when you were batonning the tree ... if you started underneath the trunk/limb the weight of it would have created enough tension on the top that probably only a few more hits would have been needed to bring it down.

For a first video ... it was worth my time!

Nonsense bpiatt. I thought your video was pretty dang good. You definately got medieval on the RMD and at the same time showed that it is more than capable of performing these types of survival/woodland tasks. It obviously does not compete with other Busse family "choppers", but is still one hell of a useful knife that can chew up some lumber if need be.

Nice job man.

Thanks man, I appreciate the kind words. I love this knife more than any other knife I own.

Nice vid! Do you have a sheath for it yet? Just got my first RMD a few weeks ago and a great sheath to go with it. Photos of it here... http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=780405

Also, how do you like the "paper" handles versus the canvas micarta? I went with the canvas but have been wondering about the black paper like the one you have.

I really like the paper micarta scales a lot, but I do not own one of these with canvas micarta scales so I cant really compare them. I have heard that the paper micarta scales are "not as tough" as the canvas ones, but from all ive done with this knife so far i have to disagree with those who believe that. I have not got a sheath yet but am talking to Dwayne Puckett about having one made. I really like the one you have though it looks great, I like how low it rides and the extra space for other items, where did you get it and how much? I love kydex but like the looks of leather better. Your sheath is the best of both worlds. I want it.

bpiatt, I got the sheath from Eric Lind... http://www.mashedcat.com/sheaths.php

His kydex work is definitely one of the best I've seen. Retention is perfect...not too hard and not too loose. The sheath, the drop-leg belt loop (which is adjustable and removeable as well), and the pouch holder plate all cost around $60. You also get a tek-lock too. The pouch itself was purchased from Ebay for about $12. It is a single magazine pouch made by Maxpedition.

thanks for the info man. got a leather one coming from Dwayne Puckett that im super excited about. going to get a kydex one too set up similar to yours. thanks again!

The RMD is thin enough for game preparation and food preparation yet tough enough for chopping and batoning. I am not sure how many other knives are in that category.

If a person only owned one fixed blade the RMD would be a good choice.

I agree with you. I dont think there is any other knife out there in this price range that is going to hold its edge like this knife. This knife will do anything you ask it to and want more. Why doesn't everyone own one of these?
