That's right they're contagious!! After receiving my Izula a few weeks ago and a Ontario/RAT folder at the gunshow yesterday I had the sudden urge to pick up a used RAT 7 D2 and a new RC3-MIL, and I'm now hunting for an RC4 & RC5! :D When will the urge stop!!!!

That urge never stops. I now have one of every kind that RAT produces, and now I am wanting one in every color, just to complete the set. Once you get bit by RAT, that's it for knives. Every other blade just can't stack up.

amen!!

Once your bit that is it!!! I bought the Izula and liked it so much that I bought a Tan RC-3 and a OD RC-5!!!! RAT makes a real quality product.

Hello, I was wondering if You'd ever consider coming out with a RC4 & RC5 version in D2? Thanks for Your time..:)

I know what you mean. I just got my first (RC6) and I haven't been able to put it down. Now I want an izula.

It is only natural. Although I would pass up on the RAT 7 and go for an RC 6 as Tony said.

It feels good to be not alone! :D As for the RAT 7, it's already on the way. Don't you worry I'll get the RC6, RC5, RC4 and whatever else RAT comes out with!

I actually lasted 16 days from my first RAT, an RC-3, till I broke down and ordered an Izula.....:D Great Knives, and Jeff and Mike operate an incredible company. Just makes me want to buy another .......

"Hi, Im Dan, and I am a Rat Knife Junkie, today is the second day that I have not made a Rat knife purchase" ... kidding/ no offense please... Good afternoon everyone, it is a pleasure to read this forum, and even more to join in and share in the discussion. I am new to the forum (my 2nd post) and I agree that RAT knives are like Lays Chips, you just can’t have one. Rob21sf you’re not alone, I bought my first imposter Rat, an Ontario Rat5 in D2. When I found out that RAT and Ontario were not the same I bought a RC-3 & Izula, then a RC-4 , then a RC-5 and now waiting patiently for my second RC-4 to come in Thurs. or Fri., Comparing the two -5’s, I wish I bought another RC-5 instead of the imposter5. Both cost about the same but the RC5 is a much better knife than the imposter5, IMO, just holding the two together and trying to compare them is unfair. The coating on the blade, the sheath, the blade steel and heat treatment (D2 is very $, can be brittle and VERY hard to sharpen) and the people/forum….. Do yourself a favor and look at the video from the Rat Cutlery website,
http://www.ratcutlery.com/1095 heat treat.MOV
They show a RC-3 blade bending (about 45 degs. or so) in a vice and returning to normal, have you ever witnessed that on any other website? The added bonus is the people that make up this forum. The only other place that I find good hearted people (like Rat Cutlery owners) is in church, just read thru the forum and you will see genuinely good people willing to give & help each other, it is a beautiful thing. I share the same opinion as many people here, buy a RC-6 instead of the O-Rat7 in D2. These are tough knifes that last, don't waste your money in this recession like I did, buy RC knives!

Yeah, what Tony said! Rats are the best bang for the buck out there in my opinion!

Thanks TexasTonyd, thanks everyone, please call me Dan. The Rat Cutlery knives are the best knives I own, hands down. I have carried many different makes and models in the past, but now I only carry the RC-4. Where ever I go, 24-7 , it stays with me by my side, it is the best tool, size & weight, for me. I have to be honest though my favorite Rat knife is the RC-5. I collect guns (modern/military) for years, and over the last few years began to appreciate and acquire knives. Reading this forum has shed much light and has been a great reference to me, it’s a wealth of knowledge shared by the experience of others. Thank you to all that have posted their experiences, bad judgments/mistakes, and opinions/facts and allowed (me) to read thru and avoid making the same mistakes. In the same fashion, I thought I could share my experience with the Imposter and the real McCoy. The Rat-5 is like many girls I have come across "pretty from far, but far from pretty", I am sure many on this site know that type : ). My advise, buy RC/Rowen knives.

Well, I got my RC3 MIL yesterday & my RAT 7 D2 today :D. I guess I'm good until tomorrow when the urge comes creeping back!

Rob21sf, if/when you get the RC6 I'd like to see or hear about a comparison review against the RAT7. Kinda like the Pepsi challenge, even though I already have a sneaky suspicion which will out perform which:D

The only Ontario's I have ever owned are the RTAK from about 4years back and a Bagwell Hell's Belle Repro. I was really disappointed with both... The RTAK's edge got chipped all to hell after splitting some small wood for kindling and the Bagwell at the time was made of a 420 that would not hold an edge.

Regardless I'd like to see what their D2 can do. my money is still on the RC's ;)
