I have never been a big fan of coated blades. I know they have a purpose, but I like the look of naked steel
I bought some Jasco paint and epoxy remover, and several grades of wet/dry sandpaper, then went to town on my HR. First off, for those who like the black coating, don't worry, it will take FOREVER to come off! Finally got it stripped/scraped/sanded off, then went to town with finer and finer grades of paper. I got it down to 600 grit with WD40, and got a sweet user grade satin finish. It took forever and tons of elbow grease, but I like it so much, I had to strip my CT too! Only with the CT, I stripped off the coating, and went right to the fine paper and WD40, which left an awesome grey finish on the blade. But on the flat near the spine, and down by the choil, it has a grained damascus look to it. I wish I had a way to post pics, but I'm very happy with the way they came out. And yeah, the CT has a cool temper line under there!
