Can someone please compare and contrast the two brands of knives for me. I often hear the two mentioned together when bringing up the topic of quality production knives...

Much Thanks

I asked the same question when I first heard of Swamp and Busse, and I've seen it asked a few times since, so in order to save everyone else from carpel tunnel syndrome, here is a link to an older thread that hopefully gives you the full info. It doesn't address ScrapYard Knives, which is a new addition to the Busse "family", but you'll get the idea...here is my original question from awhile back, with some good answers:

and here's some more:

I'm not sure how much you already know but to start it off Busse is the Mother company of Swamp Rat Knife Works. Busse knives are made out of Infi steel and SRKW is made out of SR101 steel. They are both proprioitory(spl?) steels. They are both excellent knives. SRKW was developed so people could get a VERY high quality knife for a little more than half the price of a Busse, THE high quality knife. The two steels are both excellent but at different things. You can go to each site and read all of the details and tests that have been done to each steel to see what their capable of.

Alot of people say that SRKW is a gateway drug to Busse's.

Is this where the Rats and Hogs are supposed to duke it out and find out who's better? Once and for all? ;)

We need to settle this quick before the ScrapYard stuff gets out. Otherwise we'll end up having a mexican stand-off:p

It's on Ebay, and it looks friggin' awesome!! :D

Yeah, I saw that. Noticed he lowered his price on the black-on-black too. I got an itch for the M9 but a SY to go with the Howler might be in the cards for me.

Not financially stable enough to graduate to piglet but working on it. the BM-e is on the list but sleeping in a 15' aluminum boat in the garage isn't exactly comfortable :p . The Mrs. would skin me alive with it if I bought one now.

Eh, someday.

We were talking about that this evening at Sonny's BBQ. We could hardly believe it since they were sold today for $89.95 and $129.95 (LE finish).

Now we'll just have to watch and see what the market is willing to pay for these new releases.

If they are like every other Wauseon blade, they are bound to command a premium on the secondary market. I don't know if they'll sell for what he's asking for them, though.

I think he realized that he was the first person (who attended Blade) who was able to get them on Ebay, and that he hoped that someone who couldn't attend would snap them up no matter what he put down as a starting price...

Right now I think the rats are winning because the news ones are popping up quicker than the busses. I think they need to come out with the FBM and game warden to keep up!

Yall think the Busse/Swamp is a big discussion just wait till you see the Scray yard knives.... Truly somthing for every price range and each company has some sweeeeeet knives... I was blown away at all the Scrapyard proto's... just hope they all make production.
