Rattle around Sage 5 pivot

Hello, I bought a sage 5 new about a year ago. When I got it all was well but over time it developed a rattle when shaken in the closed position. It wouldn’t be too big if a deal but I can hear it when I walk and it’s annoying. So, I sent it in to Spyderco for repair, and upon return it was perfect again. However, one day after getting it back the rattle returned. Any ideas on what I could do to fix it because I really don’t want to send it in again? To clarify when closed and shaken there is a rattling noise coming from the pivot, but once opened the noise disappears. Also, if you hold the pivot while it’s closed the rattle goes away. Anyone else having this issue? Thanks for reading

Does the Sage 5 have a stop pin that nests underneath the scales, seated into the liners? If so, that sound might be the stop pin rattling; some of my Emersons have done that, as did my Smock.

Sometimes I'll wedge a tiny bit of something thin under there, like a sliver of folded-over index card; other times I'll just use a dab of heavier grease (like the stuff I use to lube flashlight threads) on one end. Both seem to work just fine to stop that rattle -- assuming, of course that that's what it is. :)

I would second the idea of greasing the stop pin.

As in, put a dab in both the holes in the scales where the stop pin fits into. Don't lube the pin itself.

Yes it does, I’ll have to give that a try tomorrow. I appreciate it!
