My LCC seems to have developed a rattle.
I shake it(not hard, just lightly) and something seems to rattle inside the knife.
Anyone of you LCC owners have this problem if so, is this just normal?(my BM940 or any other axis lock models don't have this problem...) This is my first MT. I love the knife but just very annoying to hear this rattle...

im having almost the same problem with my whirlind (MT's are a few steps above that though).when i open an close it i hear a rattling or clicking inside the hadle.besides that, its in great shape,no blade play what so ever.

sorry, didnt mean to turn this into a review,

Wow! I had that problem on my 910BT Stryker. Great knife, but the rattling sucks! It is probably a stop pin or something that is fitted properly or isn't screwed down as it should be.

I'd say, the Whirlwind problem would be the torsion bar rattling inside the handle, the L-CC would be the imbedded lanyard pin, and the 910 was a stop pin, though more common in the 905. No problems...just annoying. I hear the L-CC blades aren't centering well in the handles while closed. Maybe QC is slipping at MT due to lower cost.

I just took delivery of a 4" MT SOCOM Tanto M/A about a month ago. I never have problems with MT's. In slowly opening the knife with the thumb stud, I noticed a slight 'wobble.' It appears to be the ball-detent. My understanding of the MT system is that they use a ceramic ball. I used a touch of black moly grease, and the problem went away. My guess is that any device needs tolerances to work at all, some tolerances might be 'generous.'--OKG

I just checked & my LCC also has a slight rattle. Jackyl is right about it coming from the lanyard pin but, IMO, it's a non-issue. I don't think I would have ever noticed it if I didn't check. FWIW, the blade on mine is centered just fine.

I would agree that it is the lanyard pin. With the handles off this pin virtually falls out. Simple fix is to place a drop of loctite or super glue for that matter in/on one end to hold it in place.

Humm...
ok, here is a stupid question but...
What is a lanyard pin?
Thanks.
p.s. where would one get loctite? I've been looking for it but no one seems to have it...

the lanyard pin is at the very butt tip of the knife. when the knife is closed, it is the pin crossing between the handles near the tip of the blade. i have gotten loctite at hardware stores and auto parts stores.

Panic, Panic. run down stairs to check MY LCC for "rattle" NO RATTLE. What is this world coming to when a Microtech "rattles".What a Perfect knife that LCC is! Cant wait for the DA!

My LCC rattles too. I thought right away it was the lanyard pin. Non issue, I still love the knife!

A knife is by default a tool, it's only a weapon when a human chooses to make it so.

Another quick fix, take a small piece of toilet paper and stick it in one side of the lanyard pin hole, I had to do this the day I recieved mine (couldent stand the rattle)as far as the blade centering in the liners mine is perfect, I have had it apart many times and the blade always centered when finished with assembly.
