Rattling Fenix Batteries

OK, this is probably a dumb question - and my obsessive nature probably has a bit to do with it, but here's the "problem": the batteries in my brand new Fenix L2T rattle around. Not a lot, just enough for me to be aware of it.

Is this typical of Fenix?

The light is great otherwise. Anyway, I fixed the problem by inserting a strip of paper (actually, a 1/4" wide strip cut from an index card) along with the batteries. This solved the rattle. Now I am concerned that this will somehow affect the flashlight itself. I can't see how it will, but I have been wrong before. So, is leaving that strip of paper shim in there anything for me to worry about?

Had that with the CMG Ultras.

Wrapped a small post-it around the battery, problem solved, plus something to write on if needed....

The post-it wrap is a great idea!
You will also appreciate the extra room if you switch to some of the larger capacity NimHi rechargable batteries. Some of the 2500mAh and higher are a little fatter and tend to not rattle in the Fenix. Another bonus is the Fenix runs best and longest with these also.

I've got NiMH rechargeables an they rattle a little. Never felt the need to wrap a piece of paper around them.

This is typical for Fenix. I think they give their bodies just a bit of extra space to ensure all batteries will fit, being an overseas product and all.

I only ever used rechargables in any Fenix I owned, so I wrapped the cell in masking tape. Not the whole cell, just the width of the tape.

Be aware!

Inserting "this strip of paper" as you choose to put it does in point of fact convert your Fenix flashlight into a "thermonuclear device".

This could result in a "chain reaction event" which in turn will result in your needing the toilet more!

Just thought I'd let you know.

Good luck!!!

I have a L1T I use as EDC and I use a NiMH battery. Actually I use NiMH in almost everything I own. Anyway, I have no rattle. I think it would drive me nuts if I did have a rattle. :D

FWIW,
