Does anyone have any good leads on a kydex sheath for a ratweiler. I know there are alot of custom makers out there and I dont care to pay the price, but I dont want to mail my knife off. Any help would be great!

Thanks,

JT

Well I know Rainwalker and Buy Brown both have Ratwielers on hand, or at least they did. I am sure Armoral has one too but he is leather.

I just got a Ratweiler myself and i had a large spec-ops sheath laying around. Its has a kydex type liner inside the cordura sheath itself. It pretty much fit it with just alittle modding to the liner. But overall its a nice fit and it also has a smaller pouch on the front too. I put a multitool, firesteel, and a easy-lap sharpener in it.
Check them out not a bad price either.

David Brown did this one and I didnt have to send the blade to him. Jeff (Rainwalker) is awesome as well.

Thanks everyone. I love the spec ops sheath and I may get one. I would prefer some custome kydex. Thanks again.

Spec-Ops and kydex are great for knock around use. Starting out with the Spec-Ops with Molle webbing on the front so you can add pouches and play with the configuration may be the way to go until you decide what you really need.

Many of the sheath makers mentioned here will have Ratweilers in their list of stock knives, so you don't have to send yours off.

But, FWIW, it's so easy to mash your own why not try that route. All your supplies for about 5 sheaths will set you back the same as a single custom. And then you can do all the cool custom stuff you want.

I would second the Specs Op suggestion for a knockaround sheath.

I would expect that Rainwalker, Buy Brown, Okuden, steelnut, Mashed Cat, etc.,... most of these guys will probably have a Ratweiler as a form. (None of these are posted as "official" Swamp Rat recommendations... only as one poster to another.)

Yes, it is. Technically, a HHFSH (Heavy Heart Fusion Steel Heart.) Sheath? It is a cheapy that has been around for years. I don't recall from where, but I also couldn't recommend it. The velcro retainer allows WAY too much movement.

It looks nearly identical to the POS that came with my Ontario NS-9 (also a POS).

I've learned that a good sheath, similar to a good holster, is every bit as important as the tool it contains.
