Its been a while since I contributed so I have decided to start with this.

I was lucky enough to win an ebay auction to get this piece a few months back. I did not realise the significance of this folder until jbravo graciously gave all of us a brief but significant history of this piece.

The first thread can be found here :

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=161925&highlight=raven+ppp

The history goes as follows : In the early 90's Ernie Emerson made a handmade custom folder which he sent as a model to Vaughn Neeley, President of Timberline, to make a handle mold for the Raven knife project. This was to be the first production folder made by Emerson Knives. According to Vaughn Neeley he kept the folder which was part of the agreement.

Apparently 4 or 5 have been made. It has hand sculpted black micarta handles, black liners and a black blade. It, however, does not have a chisel grind as mentioned in the thread but a double "V" grind.

It feels very light and quick in the hand , a beautiful piece

And it's been a peaceful time as well. Well, . . . there goes the forums!

Welcome back ya one-eyed bastid! Don't stab yourself while flailing away at that bird tomorrow. Maybe you could break out that #001 subhilt and get it good with it!

...and here I am thinking a pristine 98 Commander BT was a good score! ;)

Nice one Hilton. :D

:) A '98 Commander is an awesome score...just ask the guys that are still trying to locate one....I just go an email from another Canuck thats looking for one....a future Emerson addict I'm sure. The '98 Commander and early '99 Commanders are the best production folder IMHO....

Bob! I hope you'll see this ....thanks for the welcome buddy!I see you have been spreading a lil bit of that Emerson goodness ,good on ya mate :D

HC,

That's a really nice score! BTW the scales on your non dated 6 could use a nice cleaning with some alcohol :) It'll bring back that warm fuzzy feel to them.

I think I am sporting a bit of a 'chub'! Sure would be great to score a piece as fine as that!Big Wave Dave OUT
