Through a special deal I can get one of the discontinued Ravens for $100 Canadian...thats around $50 US or thereabouts..

I know it's a great deal but how does it stack up to the rest of the Emersons?? Currently I have a '99 CQC7 (unwaved) and my commander is on the way. I'd probably want to use it as my back up EDC for when my others are dull or just not in commission at that point in time. Currently I cycle an AFCK and my EKI CQC7 as EDC's.

I've played with one before and I like it's weight for a knife that size but thats about all my experience with it.

Anyone wanna share their Raven experience with me?

It's sort of like Glocks . . people either love the Raven or hate it. Not a lot of fence sitters. Personally I don't care a huge amount for the Raven (but love Glocks, go figure). It's an Emerson and as such lives up to their quality standards, but it's a tad "squishy" for my taste.

That having been said, I really dig the Blackbird, which is the exact same profiled knife, just in a traditional Ti liner and G10 scaled version.

If you like Ravens, jump on that deal.

Let me get over the bad point first. The knife is real hard to open with my left hand, (I'ma soutpaw) It may just be my knife though, and loosening the pivot enough to do it makes the knife kinda flimsy.

Other than that I like the knife. It's comfortable in the hand, and I think the handle feel is great+ aesthetically pleasing. It's real durable (I've pried open a car door about 2 inches with it) and it cuts real well.

as John said it is an Emerson, and will live up to the name. It's something different

I have an "A" variant that I use for all my yard work and such, and I really do like mine. My wife hase a "B" buried somewhere in her purse, but she really likes hers too. Yes, I can make the handles flex a little by squeezing them, but that doesn't bug me too much. I am not trained in any kind of knife fighting or anything, so for my use the little flex is not a problem. I really like the grooves serration molded into the handles and would like to see that done in the G-10.

Anyway, if you buy it and don't like it, let me know and I would almost certainly buy it from you for "$50 or thereabouts"

Haven't gotten it yet but I have had the oppurtunity to play with it a lot at the store...I like it a lot actually...

Very light and the grip is secure... you have to really bang the knife open for the liner to engage properly...but I like it this way...all part of the wearing in process...

Just sort of tight for cash right now...but I know that I want it now..
