Hey what happened to the ravens? how come no one has anything to say about them are they not good compared to the others for the price I figured they would be great knives but I havent seen any reviews on them why??
I wanted to pick one up but now I am not sure help me out!!

Edge1,

I have nothing bad to say about the Raven - it is a nice knife. I guess the "problem" here is that most of the Usual Suspects are much more interested in the custom Emerson knives and the various variations and unique options that exist, rather than the standard production knives.

Do not take our lack of discussion as a negative thing. If there are any kinds of faults or problems they will be writen about.

Edge1:

I personally have 2 Ravens, and I am buying another next month. I love them. IMO Until the Commander came out, it was the BEST "production" Emerson on the market. Not to say that the CQC-7's and the Specwars are not good knives, they are as well, but the handle material and design on the Ravens are what IMO set it apart! I carry my Raven (same as the one pictured above but a 1999 edition) EVERY day! I think if you want one, you should buy it. You will not be disappointed!

I have a 1998 Raven I carried for over a year. I love the handle ergonomics and the kydron handle material. I like the black pocket clip on mine too. Over time I decided I didn't like the one sided chisel grind on the tanto blade though. I wish I had gotten the clip point instead. I originally decided on the tanto because I thought I was buying it mainly for defensive/tactical use, but I discovered how handy one handed folders can be and found myself using it for daily utility tasks all the time. The black T finish on mine scratched pretty easily, so I am now in the process of sanding it off. If I were to buy a new one I would get a bead blasted clip point. I don't think corrosion is really an issue for most people, unless you are around salt water a lot. Overall, the quality was excellent. I haven't had any problems at all with the liner lock, and I am guilty of the occasional inertia flick.

I carry my Raven daily. It's a '97. Two questions. Why does this knife seem so much harder to get a really sharp edge on than blades with simular (ats-34 and 154cm) material? And has anybody else had a problem with scales wearing? The pattern is still there, but the ridges seem 'rounded over' and also some of them have chipped off. I guess it's time for some g-10 scales.
