That's the last of an era on that one. Ray has vowed not to make anymore. I'm glad I put a nice example back;)

Pretty nice looking bone indeed, Vince. What with Durwood's info that there is to be no more it just makes this one just a little more special.

Thanks Rob
I bet if you knew where to tell Ray he could bag a big monster buck he'd make one for ya' :D,that'd be pretty hard a thing for me to do,from way out on the end of this Island, though.
I'm real pleased with this one.

Very Nice Vince, appreciate you sharing.:) Sorry to have missed this one.

TGIF Rob ! Thanks for adding your LB here, another beauty.
One of the details of these knives is that finger groove Ray puts there in the handle.Makes these LB's real comfortable & secure in the hand

That bone is an excellent colour and the whole knife solid yet elegant.

Why has he stopped making them? I suppose lockbacks are more tricky to make but that can't be the reason!

Ray has vowed to never stop making knives as long as he is still able, but he has also tried to reduce or eliminate his commitment to specific orders and focus on making the patterns he likes to make. When I picked up the last 3 lockblades Ray claimed he is ever making a few weeks back, I asked him why he didn't want to make them anymore and his response was, "I love making slipjoints, and those things (lockblades) are just an aggravation to make."

Also from a practical standpoint, Ray's lockblades simply take too long to make compared to a slipjoint and don't bring a corresponding price for the extra effort.

In a way, I can see what he means&the thing about extra time&no extra return can't be ignored....BUT the end product as shown on this thread is proof of excellence and craftsmanship,it's a really fine knife all over:thumbup:
