I am very excited! I just bought a Ray Kirk pocket medicine knife. Should be here Friday.

Anyone else have any Kirk knives? He really makes a wonderful knife.

Take care,
Brett

Several of us happily own knives made by Ray, including Gus and myself.

Hard to find a better knife for the money and harder yet to find a better man.

Hi Blues!
I spoke with Ray the other day and mentioned you. He was VERY complimentary of you and mentioned how you met and you bought a knife from him at Blade (I think it was blade).

I am really impressed with his demeanor and the quality of his work. I plan on buying an Alpine Integral at some point as well as a damascus scagel folder. Amazing stuff and really neat spirit.

Take care!

Do you know of any Ray Kirk neck knives for sale? I don't see any on his site. If not, i will shoot him an email and ask. Thought I would try you first.

Take care,
Brett

Don't know of any, Brett. Checking with Ray would be your best bet. I'm sure he could fix you up even if it means waiting a bit.

Thanks for sending him my regards.

Ray makes some really fine fixed blades and folders. I bought one of his Scagel style folders awhile back, and it was just a total pleasure dealing with him. Mr. Kirk is an artist craftsman and a gentleman.

bdws, I'll hope you'll show us some pictures of the Medicine Blade when you can.

Brett, I have the medicine blade in California Buckeye Burl that was issued April 2 , 2006. I picked it up from him at the Wannamacher Show in Tulsa. One of his Scagel folders is available at the Gadget Co. Utica Square in Tulsa. Mike Miller

Cool. I have one of his scagel damascus folders on order. I will MOST DEFINITELY be posting pics of the pocket medicine when I get it.

Take care,
Brett

Hi Mike!

The one I ordered is the Maple Burl. I am VERY partial to maple.

Thanks for the heads up. I have just begun collecting customs from OK makers. Bought one of Wilkie's yesterday. I really like it. I strapped it on my belt today and did some home jobs and had a chance to use it.

Take care and hope to see you at the shop tour next Sat.
Brett

Ray is one of the nicest people you would ever want to meet and he makes one heck of a knife. He is also dedicated to sharing his knowledge with others.

Blues introduced me to him maybe 6 or 7 years ago and feel very lucky to call Ray a friend. A couple of years before he tested for his M.S. he let me have dibs on his test dagger. It is stunning and one of my favorite knives in my collection because of the person who made it.

Hi Bastid. I really am impressed with Ray's reputation. He has been super nice to me and has invited me to his shop (at my request) to see him do some work. I am just in the beginning stages of considering knife making and don't think I could have found a better bunch of people to surround myself with here in Oklahoma.

Take care. COuld you post a pic of the dagger you bought from Ray?

Best,
Brett

bdws1975,

I still have not gotten a camera, but this one deserves a Coop shot someday.

Get in touch with Ray personally. He will most likely be more than happy to work with you. He is one of the best guys I have worked with on anything. We did a three knife collaboration to inaugurate my forum and he donated a 52100 blade that I put into one of my folders for a give away. That is the kind of man he is. I offered to pay for the blade for the give away and he gave it to me.

Oh yeah. I frequently get this Scagel out of my safe to carry it. Its one that Ray did in snakewood for a friend in Australia that ended up for sale here, which I promptly snagged! This is a heck of a cutter and performer here! Pretty nice looking too!

Ay Caramba! That's a beautiful knife. I have a damascus on order and can't wait.

Ray contacted me with some knives that he has ready for sale. A couple neck knives that look cool.

Thanks for the info!

Brett

As promised, here are some pics of my new Pocket Medicine knife from Ray Kirk.

A couple of things need to be said:

1. This knife is SHARP AS HELL!! I ran it up my arm and it shaved me bald. I was able to hold a hair and SPLIT IT IN TWO LENGTHWISE!!!
2. It's the perfect size for either back pocket (jeans) or front pocket (slacks) carry. It stays firmly in the pocket sheath and rides nicely.
3. It's beautiful! I am seriously impressed with the fit and finish. All this for just 155.00!

Enough of me rambling, here is the link to my myspace page with Ray's knife pics:

Thanks for looking!

Brett

Of course, what I didn't realize was that not EVERYONE Has myspace.

I will try to post some others.
Brett

Ok, here we go.

Sorry for the confusion.

Brett
