I just got this knife in today. It's a gaucho-inspired camp knife made by fellow forumite Ray Laconico. I sent Ray some pics of Argentine criollo knives and told him to go run with it. This is the result. It has an 11" overall length, with 6" of flat-ground cutting goodness. Ray gave the koa handle an oval cross section so that I'll always know where the vorpal edge is. I can't wait to put it to work this summer.

Thanks for the comments guys.

That's a beauty. A simple, clean, very functional knife. Love it. Did it come with a sheath?

It came with a simple pouch sheath. Serviceable, but not at the same level as the knife.

Koa can be absolutely gorgeous. Check out the grips on my 1911.

Bret, my plan is to use it when camping. Sort of like a rugged kitchen knife.

Thanks guys for the comments.. I had a pretty big board of this stabilized koa given to me by knifemaker Mike Vagnino. I really like it because it's got a nice natural wood look but is easy to work with like a synthetic material.

That's a beautiful piece. My family has a couple criollos from when we visited Argentina years ago and I think this example captures the spirit of the pattern nicely. Now all you need is a nice asado bbq to put it to work!
