My brother already posted these, but now I have them in my possession. The bottom one was what started the addiction for me. It just showed up in my mailbox, a gift from my brother. After my wife told me to have Ray make me another one for my birthday (and I always try to make her happy) I also had him make one for my son. My son wanted a good size blade with micarta scales and a black blade - the top one suited him perfectly. I had Ray make a tweaked version of his HWK for me - the middle one - with ironwood scales my brother donated to the cause, or as we could say, provided me with a fix to feed the habit.

They are very nice - top notch fit and finish. Mine fits my hand very nicely. I expect it to get lots of use, if I can get the scouts out soon. I also like the "worn" blade of my son's more than I expected I would. I normally do not like black blades, but this one works.

I can't say enough about Ray's work. It is superb. He has a real eye for knife design (an artist), and meticulous attention to detail.

I am more and more tempted by his knives, even though I don't need another knife.

That is one fine collection of Laconicos! Congrats on the new blade.

The HWK looks sexy in ironwood!

Hey Don, your brother was just here to drop off a surprise for me. Some of you guys know what I'm talking about..:D I'm going to post a thank you thread for all you guys but I still don't know what to say. I'm pretty bad with words but I'll do my best.

Enjoy the knives. I hope your son like his. That one really felt right in my hands.

That ironwood is sick.
Ray, you make beautiful tools!

Those look very effective. I love the burl on the middle one. They all have great looking blade profiles!

Is that HWK blued?

Those are really really nice!!!

Ray is the man. Does some verrrrrry good work indeed!

I am more and more tempted by his knives, even though I don't need another knife.

And what does need have to do with it?

I will be able to post an updated family picture soon, when I visited Ray today he was working on the handle of my newest one from him. I can't wait!

Ray is the man, I have three of his blades and a couple more on order. His waiting lists are getting long, beter get on it before its to late.

All are O1 steel, 1/8" thick. The blade of the top one is just shy of 4-1/2" from the tip to the micarta, and a little less than 1-3/8" wide at widest point. The cutting edge (measured on a straight line) is 4-3/8". And I believe the blade was blued after receiving the "worn" finish, correct me if I am wrong, Ray.

That's right Don. The blade is blued on it. That is probably the knife I'd want from myself. It is just right!

Beautiful work Ray. What model is the micarta handled knife. Do you offer them in 3/16 ? It looks just right!

hillst1, That is what I call my woods knife.. It's more of a description than a name. I usually make it in 1/8" 1095 steel but I can use any steel I have on hand.
