Until recently, I've been on an axe buying spree and this is my first axe that I purchased back in April. It's a Ray Mears (embossed logo) Gransfors Bruks Small Forest Axe:

I've thought about getting a small forest ax myself. I picked up a wildlife hachet awhile back but i'd like to score one of those as well.
Great ax and pics too, congrats. Do you have any in hand shots of it and how do you like the weight and overall length of it.

I like it overall and it's manageable in-hand for obvious reasons, lightweight. Still have to give this one an outing, likely when I'm on vacation.

Thanks for the comparison shot she sure is purrty and looks like an awesome sized camp or pack ax.

So how much more money for the Ray Mears name on it?

My thoughts as well :p
Actually, this specific axe cost me one hundred and three U.S. dollars and change which included shipping. It took one week from time of order till I received it. The price was a lot less than were I to have purchased a GBSFA stateside. Again, the GBSFA and RM is the same axe with a different roll mark on the handles and initials of the blacksmith.

I'd like it better without "Ray Mears" written on it, but it looks like it would work for me.

Well, I need to get a fork so I can eat my words for what I said about the price I suppose :foot:
My apologies if I came off as being an a$$, btw, I was just skeptical.

I have been coveting the GBSFA for a very long time, but being a teen, it is very difficult to justify dropping +$100 on an axe at the moment; I think that I will have to stick with my no-name and order a Condor Woodworker to hold me over for a bit :D

Also, how do you like the curved handle for that handle length? I have always felt that a curved handle on smaller axes was simply a burden; the smallest length I have that is curved is a 28" that I take backpacking and I think that it is the shortest I could go. Thank you for the pics btw, it really puts this little guy into perspective.

I was confused for a minute cuz the size and price of the Gb wasn't adding up but I see now that Ray has his name on more than one GB and not just his new 24" Wilderness axe. So now you have an awesome GB, and I see you have a Council Hudson bay(which I'm pining over:)) so you pretty much have all you need in regards to axes. I'd love to see a comparison test/review-video would be best:D, but some pics will do.

A great axe. If you don't mind, could you please PM me as to where you purchased the axe from? Though I don't think it's deal spotting if you just posted it. I have been looking to order one, and that is a great price. Likely from a UK vendor.
Also, what is the axe on the left?
Thanks

The curved handle on this specific axe is suited fine and easy to wield. I've yet to take it out into the wilds so to speak and give it a workout. Probably in the next couple of months when vacation's due for me. Will see how it performs.

Yes indeed, unfortunately I'm still on an axe buying spree! Until this insatiable appetite subsides, it's more axes to come that interests me!

Still figuring out my way through Blade Forums, but it appears that I don't have way to PM, that is until one is a purchasing member, though I did post a message for you in your profile.

Message away, but I don't have PM privileges.

Just saw noneck180's post in the Wetterlings Axe Fail. . . thread and thought I'd post a couple of more pictures of the RM|GB.SFA for those curious to see if it's straight or not were it simply just a GB.SFA without the embossed RM designation.
