Ray Mears video - using flint as a knife to make and use bow drill set

He is my favourite. Very understated and entertaining. Unlike Bear, the jack#ss of wildness shows. Ray Mears' philosophy is working with nature to survive. Bear on the other hand seems to be man against the wild.

Thanks foe the great clip.

Sweet..I seem to notice a different technique for starting a bowdrill fire from everyone that I watch...interesting. Gene

Great videos of him on Youtube. Ray makes it look easy.

I've never done a totally no-steel-knife-used friction fire.

Some of the things I didn't show at the Connecticut Gathering included about 3 feet of strong cordage that I made out of Evening Primrose, some bits of Normanskill chert that knaps well, a bearing stone that I made by abrasion with a triangular piece of quartz and a softer stone and the wooden makings for a friction fire kit.

I guess I should get back on that one...

I find that Ray Mears is alot more informative compared to others. I like his teaching style better than other survival experts.
