Just received my Ray Rogers Rayzor knife from Bladeart. The knife is very well made with clean fine lines and perfect hollow ground work on the blade. Sharpness is as good as my Sebanza and AR. The knife itself is bigger than I expected but the extra length on the handle gave the knife a very secure grib.

There is no thumb stud on the blade and the blade can be easily open by pulling on the blade or catch the front horn on your pant pocket to open the blade. Action is silky smooth and the BG-42 steel blade open with no blade play at all. When the blade is closed the blade will move slightly downward if you press down on the blade but will spring back up as soon as the pressure was released. I do not know if that is a normal design and have email Ray Rogers to find out.

The Carbon Fiber handle matches the Ti bolster and the rest of the knife beautifully. The handle feel very smooth and the slim profile makes this knife an easy carrying piece.

This is an extreamly sharp razor shape blade with the BG-42. The sharpness is just as good as my Sebanza out of the box and the action openings and closings are silky smooth with absolutely no play at all.

All the stop pin were made of hardened Ti and the Carbon Fiber scale is smooth and polished. The blade can be flick open or catch the front horn on the edge of the pant pocket or waist belt to drag the blade open easily.

I guess you can shave with it but the thickness of the blade will make this task a little harder than the thin razor blade.:p

Is this blade honed the same way you would a straight razor - flat to the spine? Has Ray described the specifics of the edge geometry anywhere?

Cliff: There is supposed to be a certificate that came with this knife with all the spec written on it. I was informed by Ray Rogers that each knife he makes he specially wrote down the type of steel, how it was heat treated, the balde angles and all the good info that will allow the blade to be reproduce or repair.

Unfortunately when Bladeart sent this knife there was no certificate included. I have already asked Ida to look into it and Bladeart has always been great with their knives and I am sure if she can locate it I will get it.

I just run the blade on the ceramic rods a few times and it came out super sharp! The BG-42 is so easy to sharpen and holds a great edge!
