I have not posted in over 6 months, but I could not let this pass...

Last Christmas my wife surprised me with a very special gift. She worked with Ray Laconico and my brother to arrive at a design and materials. This is what she gave me:

She made a specific point of doing something special, and took great pleasure in doing it. She shed tears when she gave it to me and told me about the process. I think she suspected that it would be her last gift to me.

It did turn out to be her last gift, and it has taken on a much greater significance to me. I only carry it in the house now because I do not want to risk damage or loss.

But once you are accustomed to Ray's quality, well, nothing else will really do. So what to do?

Ray made this one for me. 3" blade, CPM-S35VN, Ti liners, carbon fiber scales and back spacer. It is a work of art, very clean, very precise.

Ray's work is outstanding, and that is a severe understatement.

Even if that knife wasn't a treasured memory, it would be still be a phenomenal knife. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss.

Don, thanks for posting that. It was great to work with your wife and brother. It was great to work with you too.
