Rayban created a prototype "Quick and Dirty" pocket sheath for me to prove out a concept. It arrived today and it's already riding in my pocket loaded with my GEC LG+ White Pearl Powderhorn. Rides just like I want in my front pocket and keeps these acrylic/pearl laminated covers safe from pocket "junk" damage. This is very thin and does not interfere with drivng or sitting, etc.

The pocket sheath idea is really growing on me. I'm getting to the point I'd like to try one for a small fixed blade. Seems like it would ride nicely in a cargo pocket while hunting.

i made myself one a while back not as neat as this but it works keeps the knife upright...
great looking sheath

Fourth EDC day with my favorite Jack (GEC Powderhorn in pictures above) in this sheath. Dress slacks, work slacks, blue jeans ... performs exactly as I'd hoped. have not taken it out of pocket since I got it on Saturday morning. Thanks again rayban - it's getting lots of favorable reactions from the guys I work with.

Good to hear....er read.....those top corners may dog-ear as time passes....I would have liked to stitch in a back panel of 4oz to help that a little so if you think the unit can stand to be 1/16" thicker, we'll do that next time......so let's keep an eye out for that.
Thanks again.

I made this same general style of pocket sheaths for my EDCs and have been using them for the past few years. My goal was not so much protection of the knife as preventing imprinting the knife shape on my pants and keeping the knife vertical. I added a series of vent holes to the leather of the side of the pouch so it's not too warm to use in very hot weather. Using split grain leather for the outer side allows the friction of the leather against the pocket material to keep the sheath from moving around when I draw out the knife, keeping it in place. It's not nearly as pretty as this one that Rayban has made, but it's worked for me for several years now. I made a few different sizes to fit the different pocket shapes of my pants, and different sheath sizes for different EDCs.

7th day of all day EDC - top corners still holding their shape. As RAYBAN predicted in a PM ... the more I carry this and study it, and think about this sheath the more ideas are popping into my head. My leatherworking tools (Tandy - Amazon) should arrive by the middle of next week. I'll be doing some mock-ups this weekend - trying not to get too ambitious with this first attempt (at something other than a kit) but I'm starting to champ at the bit to start stitching some leather together. Started a thread on the trad knife sub-forum and have now seen a much wider selection of pockets sheaths in all shapes and sizes using a variety of designs.
