I've been kinda bored with liner locks. And I own enough knives (two?) made of 8Cr13MoV. And, I hadn't planned on buying any knives anytime soon, certainly not a CRKT. But, OTOH, I've always been curious about a Razel as a work knife; impromptu wood chisel or gasket scraper. Yesterday BladeHQ sent me an offer I couldn't refuse. So, it looks like I didn't even make it one full day into the new year without breaking a few rules and buying a new knife. It'll be a beater from day one. I'll post my impressions as they develop.

Ok, I bought one too - I've been wanting one for a while as the shape makes it great for all kinds of utility use.

I own three Razels; the fixed blade ringed razel, the stubby folder, and the larger razel folder. All made by CRKT. I use the larger folder the most for primarily scraping jobs. The stubby is too small for anything serious and I cut myself too easily with the ringed razel. Hope you enjoy yours. Are they back in the CRKT catalog now?

Not sure if they are back. Maybe BHQ is clearing out the last few? I'm intrigued to try it out, though. There's something fun about buying something that you know is a hard user from the git-go. Like a pair of work boots or Carhartt jeans.

Went to their website. I'd buy one, but I already own that larger folder. That is a good price; better than what I paid a number of years ago. Good luck with it!

It isn't expensive. Unless something changed, the knife is discontinued. You need to buy one if you want it as soon as possible. They look just like the picture from the retailer.

Got one a few weeks ago. A very interesting blade. Overall a little large to carry EDC. But I like the design. I'll be carrying it for work. (Construction).

Lateck,

Like 22-RF said: buy now. They're gonna be gone. Plenty of pictures online; even a Nick Shabazz review. Mine's due here on Monday. (I spent more tonite on 4 beers than I did on the Razel.) (Venue prices.)

Got mine last night. For $22 I think it's a pretty decent piece and glad to add it to my collection. This one may end up living in the toolbox since I see it being used as an utility-style blade.

I didn't realize the knife wasn't chisel ground, I just assumed it would be - IMO that would be better for this knife and how I expect to use it. Main edge is reasonably sharp and the grind is decent. Blade centered once I gave it a little push, everything works smoothly and I don't see any glaring construction/finish flaws. Overall seems like a comfortable shape but I will need to use it for an extended period before drawing a firm conclusion.

The lockbar is aggressively jimped and will need to be hit with some sandpaper if I want my thumb to remain as-is when unlocking it. All of the other edges are fine, even the jimping on the blade itself is not as aggressive as the lockbar's since the frame sits on either side and tempers it's sharpness.

A bit heavy and bulky, I assume it's as large as it is for utility purposes because the blade could be at least 1/4" longer. For it's intended use I'm OK with that though.

BUT, and this is a big one - unless I snap it open lockup is basically 0%. Even with a hard snap it's 25% at best. I may take the knife apart and see if I can get this to lockup better, and use will probably help so I'll be playing with it to break it in. For now an easy blind check is if the LAWKS can be engaged then the knife is locked up properly, if the LAWKS won't completely engage then there is no lockup.
